Following my degree in Spatial Planning from the TU Dortmund University, I completed my PhD-research on the contestations and negotiations evolving around access to public space in Dhaka, Bangladesh, in 2012. In subsequent postdoctoral research I focused on power relations and the resulting spatialities of transformations at the urban fringe of South Asian cities. Since October 2013, I am a Lecturer and Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute of Environmental Social Sciences and Geography. My current research centers on globally mobile urbanism, international migration, urban environmental policies and the respective local socio-spatial transformations with a regional focus on Asia and East Africa.
